Sleep in the landscspe of fear
Sleep
is a mystery. Even if there is ample evidence from laboratory studies
that sleep is essential to an healthy life, we know very little about
how wild animals balance the need for sleep with that for other
important activities. Sleep is also risky because, like us, sleeping
animals have limited awareness of what happens around them and are thus
exposed to high risk of predation.
In
this novel and exciting project, you will join an international team of
leading scientists to investigate how red deer change their sleep time
and patterns when facing high risk of predation by wolves or hunting by
humans, using state-of-the-art biologging technology.
