Sociality and Fission-Fusion Dynamics in Spider Monkeys
Applications are open for a 4-year PhD position at the
Instituto de Neuroetología, Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico). The PhD
project will focus on the interplay between social interactions, social
structure and subgrouping patterns in wild spider monkeys using a
20+year dataset. The successful candidate will receive a 4-year
scholarship through a grant from the Mexican Secretariat SECIHTI.
This
position is ideal for people with a strong interest in social behavior,
who hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field and are skilled at
conducting statistical analyses with R. It is preferable that applicants
are competent in managing large datasets and have knowledge of social
network analysis and statistical modelling. The PhD thesis can be
written in Spanish or English, but applicants should know sufficient
Spanish to navigate the application process, including an entry exam.
