Passionate about animal behaviour? Join us to participate in a study on
behaviour and communication in wild African elephants! You will have the
opportunity to analyse the postures and signals used in their social
interactions. This experience will allow you
to acquire new skills in behavioural analysis, video data coding, and
data management. Gaining insight into this type of project will
be particularly valuable if you are considering pursuing doctoral
studies or a career in research.
Duration:
2 to 3 months (ideally starting ASAP, but dates can be discussed based on your availability)
Location:
Online, remote working 🖥️
Skills Required:
- Genuine interest in animal behaviour
- Motivation, patience and rigour (video coding can sometimes be challenging!)
- Some experience in video coding (any software, but ideally in animal behaviour)!
- Familiarity with ELAN is a plus (but not essential)!

Tapinder Sidhu, PhD student in animal behaviour and evolutionary & comparative psychology at the University of Portsmouth (tapinder.sidhu@port.ac.uk) & Dr. Lucy Bates (Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Portsmouth).

Pay:
Unpaid, however we are offering authorship on any paper(s) which use
this data if you are willing to contribute to manuscript editing.
