URGENT Offre de Stage

Transiton alimentaire chez les grands singes

Contexte

Les fruits développés pour la consommation humaine diffèrent dans leur composition nutritionnelle des fruits sauvages consommés par les primates en milieu naturel. Les conséquences d’une raison trop riche en sucres et trop faible en fibres sur la santé et le comportement des primates en captivité peuvent être multiples : problème de poids, diarrhées, carences, diabète, maladies hépatiques ou cardiaques, comportements agressifs et compétition alimentaire, anxiété sociale. Plusieurs études ont indiqué qu’une transition à une ration sans fruits à de multiples effets bénéfiques chez les primates : amélioration de la consistance des selles, amélioration du poids, de l’état du pelage, de la glycémie, réduction du risque de diabète, meilleure survie des jeunes, augmentation du temps consacré à l’alimentation, réduction de l’agressivité des individus, etc.

La démarche entreprise au zoo de La Palmyre s’inscrit à la fois dans une démarche proactive d’anticipation d’éventuels problèmes de santé liés à une alimentation trop riche en fruits et dans une démarche globale de changement de pra5ques en se basant sur les connaissances actuelles en matière de besoins physiologiques et comportementaux chez les primates. 

Le stage portera sur la transition alimentaire à une ration sans fruits (ou avec moins de fruits) chez 2 espèces de grands singes, un groupe de gorilles et un groupe d’orang-outan. Le stagiaire sera responsable de la collecte de données comportementales (directe et par vidéo) et participera à la pesée des animaux, à la collecte des échantillons fécaux, des restes alimentaires ainsi qu’à l’évaluation des scores fécaux et de conditions d’état corporel.

Ce projet est accompagné par le bureau d’études AKONGO, spécialisé dans le suivi et l’évaluation du bien-être animal.

Stage de Master 2 en neuro-éthologie à l’Université de Caen Normandie (France)

Etude de l’impact du stress chronique sur le biais cognitif de deux modèles animaux invertébrés

La dépression est une pathologie majeure dans le monde qui se caractérise notamment par une série d’altérations cognitives telles qu’une anhédonie, un sentiment de dévalorisation et des idées suicidaires. De plus une fatigue quasi quotidienne accompagnée d’une réduction importante de l’activité physique sont associés aux pathologies dépressives. Curieusement, une telle diminution de l’activité physique a toujours été considérée comme une conséquence de l’altération des structures cérébrales corticales et sous-corticales mais jamais envisagée, même chez les modèles d’animaux classiques de la dépression, comme une modification des réseaux neuronaux sensorimoteurs présent dans la moelle épinière et directement liés aux interactions sensorimotrices locales. Il est important de noter que ces réseaux sont présents chez de nombreuses espèces vertébrés et invertébrés et partagent de nombreuses similitudes.

Nous travaillons sur l’hypothèse que ces réseaux sensorimoteurs sont également essentiels dans la genèse et le maintien des troubles dépressifs, en agissant notamment sur les structures cérébrales. Par conséquences, nous supposons que l'altération des fonctions sensorimotrices basiques via les réseaux de neurones qui leurs sont propres pourrait déclencher des troubles de type dépressif  également chez des espèces animales dont le système nerveux central (SNC) est dépourvu de structures cérébrales comparables au cerveau humain. Ces espèces animales pourraient donc constituer une voie pour l'étude des troubles de type dépressif en liant avec les dysfonctionnements des réseaux sensorimoteurs. Pour mettre en évidence ces hypothèses, notre travail se focalise sur le rôle des réseaux sensorimoteurs dans l'expression de "comportements de type dépressif" en utilisant une approche comparative chez deux modèles animaux invertébrés, une écrevisse (Procambarus alleni) chez lequel le SNC est plus distribué que chez l'homme et accorde donc moins d'importance à la céphalisation, et une seiche (Sepia officinalis), chez lequel le SNC est céphalisé et présente des capacités cognitives sophistiquées apparues indépendamment de l’évolution des vertébrés.

L’objectif du stage de Master 2 d’une durée de 6 mois est de poursuivre le travail commencé sur la caractérisation de comportement de type dépressif après un stress chronique chez ces deux modèles animaux et notamment de mettre en évidence un biais cognitif pessimiste, plutôt caractéristiques de la dépression. Cette approche comportementale s’accompagnera de tests comportementaux mettant en évidences des comportements de type anxieux, de résignation ou encore de changements sociaux. En parallèle, une évaluation des performances motrices et de l’activité journalière sera réalisée.

Profil : Le candidat devra idéalement suivre une formation de Master en sciences du comportement et/ou Neurosciences. Une première expérience dans l’application ou l’analyse de protocoles comportementaux sera appréciée.

Lieu de stage : Le stage se déroulera à la station marine de l’Université de Caen à Luc sur Mer. Le projet est financé par la fondation Fyssen et soutenu par l’agence nationale de la recherche.
