Hiring Organization:
University of Lethbridge
Position Description:
We are looking for assistance with ongoing behavioural and ecological data collection at our vervet monkey field site in South Africa. You will collect data - under supervision - on habituated animals and will be trained to participate in ecological surveys of the home ranges. Consequently, we are interested in applicants who are prepared to spend 6 months or longer in the field.
Qualifications/Experience:
Some field experience, especially with social mammals, would obviously be good, as would the possession of a current, valid driver's license and the ability to drive a stick-shift. It goes without saying that you would have to be at least moderately sociable and easy to live with.
Salary/funding:
Nil - see below
Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
We provide free board and lodging. For participants who stay for six months, we will make a retrospective contribution to airfare. Where applicants participate for 12 months, we will retrospectively cover the cost of airfare.
Participants will need to provide proof of medical insurance cover for the duration of their stay in the field.
