Associate Professorship in Ethology (Nr. 2011/1946)

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) has an open position as associate professor in ethology in the Department of Animal and Aquacultural Sciences (IHA).

The successful candidate shall take part in research, teaching and tutorials within the research group Ethology and Animal Environment. The ethology staff in this group currently includes two full professors, two associate professor, two research scientists, two PhDs and one research assistant.

Responsibilities

Research, lecturing, supervision of students and external transmission of knowledge within ethology and animal environment, especially with focus on companion animals (horses and dogs).

Qualifications

- PhD or equivalent competence in ethology or behavioural biology
- Good competence in ethology applied to domestic animals
- Competence in or interest in specializing in behaviour of dogs and/or horses will be given weight
- Thorough experience with teaching, tutorials/supervision of students and external transmission of knowledge
- Extensive scientific network, both nationally and internationally
- As some courses are based on lectures in Norwegian, applicants that do not have a command on a Scandinavian language must commit oneself to achieve such skills within two years

Salary
The annual salary for the position ranges from Norwegian government salary scale 57 – 70 (NOK 455 900 – 579 400 ) depending on qualifications.
