Position
description:
Applicants are sought for two Postdoctoral
positions in the Garner Lab, Department of Comparative medicine, Stanford
University. The Lab’s activities are divided between support services and
original research in the 3Rs (animal welfare science) and translational
neuroethology (particularly Trichotillomania, Autism, and pain).
Responsibilities will be matched to experience level and career goals of the
successful candidate(s), including: Overseeing project management, data
analysis and publication of work in the lab; and aiding in the mentoring of undergraduate,
veterinary internship and graduate student projects. Opportunities will exist

Required
Qualifications:
An interdisciplinary skill set is
essential. Research experience in a relevant behavioral discipline (e.g.
neuroethology, applied ethology or behavioral neuroscience) is required. The
ideal candidate will have experience in at least one of the following
additional areas: translational science (e.g. animal welfare, comparative
medicine, psychiatry); quantitative methods (e.g. biostatistics,
bioinformatics, simulation); product engineering or mechatronics (e.g. 3D printing,
data acquisition systems, digital video, control systems); and/or coding in
relevant languages (e.g. R, MatLab, Python, Visual Basic, SQL). The ideal
candidate will have excellent writing skills, enjoy working in teams, and be a
self-starter.
