The School of Biological Sciences at Plymouth University wishes to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to provide academic teaching, research and leadership in the area of animal welfare science.
The School offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and the successful applicant will become a senior member of the team that delivers our BSc Animal Behaviour & Welfare and MSc Zoo Conservation Biology. The successful candidate will be expected to take over the leadership of MSc Zoo Conservation Biology after shadowing the current programme leader.
You will be expected to contribute significantly to the research profile of the School of Biological Sciences, which currently includes interests in animal behaviour, animal welfare, ecology (theoretical, molecular and
applied), conservation biology, ecotoxicology, and microbiology.
As an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) at Plymouth University, you will be expected to develop and deliver teaching and research of the highest standard that enhances the reputation of the School, Faculty and University, engaging externally with bodies and professions as appropriate; in doing so, you will be expected to develop colleagues across the institution and beyond. As a senior member of staff you would also be expected to assume leadership and management responsibilities in the School.
You will have a doctorate or equivalent level of qualification and/or recognised profile. You will have a track record of academic excellence visible through research outputs and hold a recognised HE teaching qualification, with several years of teaching experience and ideally teaching leadership at HE level.
