Tai Chimpanzee Project is a long-term research project dedicated to research on the wild chimpanzees of the Tai National Park in Ivory Coast since 1979. We are seeking a camp manager who managing the activities in our 5 camps throughout the research area of the Tai National Park.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) managing long-term data collection on the chimpanzees and managabeys studied by our local field assistants (supervising data collection, downloading and archiving data, etc)
(2) maintaining infrastructure (camps, cars, working equipment, etc.)
(3) accounting for salaries and project budget in the forest (30+ local staff, budget, etc)
(4) contact to local authorities and research partners (park authorities, villages amd Tai, research institute in Abidjan, etc)
REQUIREMENTS:
(1) management skills
(2) good English and French
(3) stress resistance
(4) commitment to research on and conservation of chimpanzees
(5) ability to life and work in a remote and isolated environment
OFFER:
(1) this can develop in a PhD for the second year (PhD project developing during year one)
(2) following and observing wild chimpanzees
(3) salary and contract with the CNRS (France)
SALARY:
Ingenieur (depending on experience between 2088 and 2206 E brutto)
Commitment: 2 years starting July 1, 2022
