Humane Slaughter Association: TECHNICAL OFFICER
An
opportunity has arisen for a veterinary/agriculture/other animal
science graduate preferably with relevant experience, or other suitably
qualified and experienced person to join the HSA technical team at our
offices in Wheathampstead. The post is for a period of 4 years with the
possibility of extension.
The Technical Officer will promote: humane methods of slaughter,
high standards of animal welfare in livestock marketing, transport, by
education and research in these areas, both in the UK and worldwide. The
work will include organisation of meetings/symposia,
provision of technical advice to, and liaison with, industry and
others, and production/updates of educational materials as well as
helping to promote the charities. Previous relevant experience with the
meat and livestock industry (which may include aquaculture)
will be essential. Initial salary, dependent on experience is likely to
be within the range £27–31k pa.
