Do you want to contribute to advancing human

working with rodents ? Altasciences is seeking Research
Technicians at all levels of experience that have a passion for
scientific research. In this position your focus will be working directly with
small animals in the collection of data and in support of the development of
human medicine. You will perform technical procedures to support advancements
in pharmaceutical development. In this position you will learn and perfect
complex procedures including learning the skills to operate laboratory
equipment, specimens collection techniques and data acquisition. At
Altasciences Preclinical Services, we work with many different small animal
models: rats, mice, guinea pigs and rabbits and you will have the opportunity
to become a proficient, highly skilled expert in this field
Requirements
- Conducting sample and data collection on research studies
- Perform standard operating procedures and execute Protocol driven activities on laboratory animals. Forexample; clinical observations, food consumptions, body weights, urine collection, administering anesthesia, mating procedures, blood draws, dose administration catheter placement, enrichment, feeding
- Responsible for recording, entering and reviewing raw data
- Prepares for procedures by setting up and maintaining ancillaries on study animals
- Operating specialized laboratory equipment such as; Glucometer, Harvard pump, Digital Thermometer, infusion pumps, telemetry devices etc
- Monitor and report changes and concerns in animal behavior or health, and problems with animal rooms (e.g., caging, lights, and temperature) to all appropriate personnel
- Monitor and report all study changes to the Study Supervisor and Study Director
- All work must be performed at the highest quality and with the highest regard for animal welfare
Qualifications
- BS/BA in a scientific discipline preferred. Must have high School Diploma and/or GED required
- 1 to 2 years experience working with small animals, in research, or in a regulated environment
- ALAT or LAT Certification preferred
- Ability to perform high quality work with strongattention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem solve and know when to ask questions
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees
- Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast paced, changing environment
- Positive attitude toward work and strong team player
- Be a part of a team that likes to work hard and have fun
- Ability to lift up to 30-50 pounds required
