As a Federal Research Institute and independent higher Federal Authority under the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture, the work of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) focusses on the health, nutrition, housing, genetic diversity, and welfare of farm animals.
At the Institute for Animal Welfare and Husbandry in Celle, Germany, a 3-year position (50 %) is available for a Research Assistant (PhD-student)
The employment will be based on the Federal Civil Service Act (TVöD) and the salary will refer to class E 13 (West).
Within the FLI-research project ”Effects of selection for high laying performance on adaptation capacity in the domestic fowl” the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Planning, conduction and analysis of experiments on behavioural responses towards environmental challenges
- Planning, conduction and analysis of behavioural experiments on cognition and motivation
- Coordination of the experiments with those of other collaborating institutes of FLI
- Presentation of the results at international conferences and publishing in international peerreviewed journals
Requirements:
- Master (of Sciences) or equivalent in Biology, Agricultural sciences or Veterinary medicine
- Interest in learning behaviour
- Readiness to conduct behavioural experiments with laying hens
- Interest to participate in an interdisciplinary research project
- Driver licence (class B)
