The German Primate Center (DPZ) - Leibniz Institute for Primate Research is one of 96 research and infrastructure establishments of the Leibniz Association. It conducts basic biological and biomedical research in all fields in which non-human primates play essential roles: in particular in infection research, the neurosciences and organismic primate biology. Besides its research infrastructure in Göttingen the DPZ maintains four field stations to do research on and with primates. For a new research network to be established together with the Georg-August-University of Göttingen, we recruit / offer a Field biologist (all genders welcome) This is a 100% position (currently 39,8h/week), limited for two years. The earliest starting time for this position is Jan 1st, 2022. Across several projects, the research network will investigate how fundamental cognitive functions and their neurobiological foundations contribute to human and nonhuman primate social behavior and social interactions. The network is formed by a highly interdisciplinary consortium formed by systems and computational neuroscientists, data scientists, psychologists and behavioral and cognitive biologists. CENTRE DE CONSERVATION POUR CHIMPANZES (CCC)
Le Centre de Conservation pour Chimpanzés, sanctuaire situé en Guinée-Conakry et accrédité par le Pan Africa Sanctuary Alliance (PASA), recherche une personne enthousiaste pour rejoindre l’équipe de gestion du sanctuaire comme directeur/rice des opérations junior/e. Contexte Le CCC est un sanctuaire créé en 1997 qui recueille, réhabilite et relâche des chimpanzés orphelins victimes du trafic illégal de viande de brousse et du trafic de bébés. Le CCC est situé au cœur du Parc National du Haut Niger (PNHN), qui abrite une importante population de chimpanzés sauvages ainsi qu'une faune encore très riche. Le CCC travaille avec le ministère de l’Environnement et du Développement Durable guinéen et est géré indépendamment par l’ONG Projet Primates Guinée. Le CCC réhabilite actuellement 60 chimpanzés (de 1 à 26 ans environ) et suit 7 chimpanzés relâchés au cœur du Parc National du Haut Niger. Le Centre collabore activement avec les autorités à la protection du Parc National afin de protéger sa population de chimpanzés sauvages et sa faune. Il mène des programmes de sensibilisation environnementale et de petits projets communautaires. Poste : Directeur/rice des Opérations du sanctuaire junior Le/la Directeur/rice des Opérations junior (DO) est recruté/e pour être formé(e) par la Directrice des Opérations du sanctuaire actuelle dont le poste va être réparti entre deux DO. Le/la DO junior se formera avec la DO et le manager chimpanzé afin de remplacer à terme la DO actuelle et travailler dans le futur avec un 2ième DO qui partagera la gestion quotidienne du sanctuaire et du site de relâcher, en étroite collaboration avec les chefs soigneurs du sanctuaire et le manager du site de relâcher. Responsabilités clés : elles incluent notamment mais ne sont pas limitées à : • Co gestion des chimpanzés avec le 2ième DO et les 2 chefs soigneurs • Logistique du sanctuaire • Constructions : planification, devis, supervision • Supervision de l’entretien des infrastructures • Gestion des Ressources Humaines de l’équipe locale (sanctuaire et site de relâcher) • Gestion administrative (gestion comptable du sanctuaire, rapports, etc.) • Supervision de la logistique du site de relâcher (réparti avec DO2) qu’il/elle doit visiter en alternance avec DO2 selon les besoins, et en collaboration avec le manager du site de relâcher dont il/elle est responsable Liens hiérarchiques : Le DO junior sera sous l’autorité directe de la DO lors de sa formation et collaborera activement avec ses collègues du sanctuaire (manager chimpanzés, vétérinaire, chefs soigneurs, technicien) et du pôle conservation (directeur des programmes de conservation, manager du site de relâcher). A terme le/la DO sera sous l’autorité directe de la Directrice Exécutive et sera le/la responsable de l’équipe de gestion du sanctuaire. Evolution : Le/la DO junior recruté(e) deviendra DO1 au terme de la 1ère année.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The PhD student will be expected to take a leadership role in their Animal Science research program within the Human-Animal Interaction Lab. The PhD student will lead canine welfare research that aims to evaluate the influence of human-animal interactions on the behavior and welfare of companion animals, and to identify ways to prevent and reduce animal stress. General responsibilities will include: organizing, coordinating and conducting experiments, coordinating with dog owners/shelters, supervising research assistants, data collection and management, data analyses, and manuscript writing.
The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, formal training conducting applied animal behavior research, a strong research background with publication(s), and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in animal science, animal welfare, applied ethology, animal biology, or related field
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to supervise and mentor research assistants
- Ability to organize and coordinate research projects

L'équipe Écologie Evolution Adaptation et Comportement du
Laboratoire de Biométrie et Biologie Évolutive (Université Claude
Bernard-Lyon1) suit une population de marmottes alpines depuis bientôt 30ans.
Nous sommes à la recherche de stagiaires pour participer à la campagne annuelle
de terrain.
Le travail consistera à participer à un suivi à long terme (initié
en 1990) d'une population de marmottes alpines située dans la réserve de la
Grande Sassière (2400m d'altitude, Vanoise) dans les Alpes françaises entre les
communes de Tignes et Val d'Isère (Savoie 73).
Ce suivi combine, un protocole de capture-marquage-recapture, des
mesures biométriques, un protocole de comptage et des protocoles d'observations
comportementales, dans l'objectif d'acquérir des données visant à répondre à la
fois à des questions de biologie évolutive et de dynamique des populations.
Durant le stage, l'étudiant acquerra de nombreuses compétences de
terrain telles que les techniques de capture, de manipulation et d'observations
de la faune sauvage.
Attention, il s'agit ici uniquement de travail de terrain, pas de stage pouvant conduire à de
l'analyse de données ou à la rédaction d'un rapport (impossible d’y allouer
du temps sur le terrain, possible éventuellement au cas par cas en
autonomie hors-terrain.

Mission
La
mission consistera en un travail de recherche de
terrain. Capture-marquage-recapture des individus, gestion des cages-pièges et
des captures, aide à la manipulation des marmottes (mesures biométriques,
prélèvements biologiques...), comptage et observations comportementales.
Profil Candidat/e
Nous ne pouvons prendre que des étudiant/es car une convention de stage est OBLIGATOIRE. Niveau
d'études : à partir de BAC+2
Motivation : Il s'agit d'un travail difficile, qui ne laisse pas
(ou peu) de temps pour soi.
Aimer le travail en équipe, être facile à vivre et aimer la vie en
communauté (équipe de 6 personnes).
Rigueur, disponibilité et flexibilité: le travail implique des
animaux sauvages, les horaires de travail dépendent donc des marmottes et du
climat.
Apprécier la montagne et la nature: le travail implique d'être
dehors toute la journée, le froid et les conditions de vie rudimentaires ne
doivent pas faire peur.
Indemnisation
Le stage n’est pas indemnisé, mais le transport depuis Lyon, la nourriture,
et l’hébergement sont pris en charge.
Conditions de travail
Durée : Maximum de 44j
de travail effectif, avec des dates approximatives (décision en fonction des
conditions climatiques hivernales, variable à qq jours près) du 09/05 au 06/06 ET
du 13/06 au 15/07/22 (la première période permet la capture des adultes, la
secondes des jeunes de l’année, la présence des stagiaires sur l’ensemble des 2
périodes est un critère de sélection).
Il n'y a pas d'horaires fixes, les heures de travail dépendent des
animaux et sont conséquents.
Vous serez intégré à une équipe de 6 personnes sur le terrain,
hébergée dans un chalet d’alpage, où l’eau, l’électricité et le réseau sont des
denrées rares et précieuses.
ATTENTION: Les conditions sont difficiles, du fait du climat
montagnard et de la promiscuité au quotidien avec les autres membres de
l’équipe, et des conditions rudimentaires de l’hébergement.

About the Position:
The Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), in partnership with the Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF), Conservation Planning Specialist Group, and Impact by Design, is seeking a Behavior Change Campaign Manager to ensure the successful design and implementation of a human behavior change campaign in the vicinity of Grand Gedeh and River Gee counties in Liberia. The purpose of this campaign is to support communities of people living in areas where chimpanzees are present and to conserve wild chimpanzees. Additionally, the project seeks to integrate population viability analysis and behavior change methodologies into a comprehensive Open Standards conservation planning process for the West African chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus) in the Republic of Liberia.
Under the supervision of the WCF Project Assistant and WCF Country Director, and in close coordination with Jane Goodall Institute, Impact by Design, the Conservation Planning Specialist Group, the selected individual will be expected to:
· Efficiently and effectively manage the design, implementation, and evaluation of a behavior change campaign (BCC);
· Ensure all campaign design approaches are based on best practices and social science of human behavior change and community-based social marketing;
· Attend all project team meetings – both virtual and in-person;
· Answer emails in a timely fashion and communicate with the team on a weekly basis;
· Facilitate communications between local and international project team members, local staff, government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders;
· In coordination with WCF, manage WCF staff and volunteers contributing to the BCC;
· In coordination with WCF, develop and manage BCC workplans and provide routine reports and updates on progress to the project team;
· Support the hiring and managing of external consultants and/or private agencies to collect qualitative and quantitative data, and manage all data in a secure manner;
· Collaborate with internal and external experts to design BCC communication strategies, outlets, and materials;
· Conduct background research for BCC activities as needed;
· Oversee procurement of BCC purchasing and sourcing;
· Ensure the BCC is meeting deliverables and deadline;
· In coordination with WCF and partners, plan BCC activities and events locally, and conduct field visits to ensure effective implementation of behavior change activities;
· Implement a monitoring and evaluation plan for the BCC with support from the WCF-Liberia M&E Officer.
· Follow financial procedures and assure correct financial reporting and administering of project funds
Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
· Previous experience working with communities in complex development scenarios, experience in working with NGOs, and/or experience with local and national level governments;
· An interest in wildlife conservation and a passion to create solutions (for both people and animals) for complex environmental problems;
· A minimum of 3 to 5 years of demonstrated experience in managing projects with multiple stakeholders and objectives;
· Education at the MSc level in human behavior, marketing and communications, psychology, sociology, human dimensions of conservation, economics, or a related field;
· Ability to critically evaluate quantitative and qualitative data to inform BCC activities;
· Ability to problem-solve, be organized, manage time efficiently, and work as a team player;
· Strong written and oral communication skills;
· Ability and willingness to travel to the field for long periods of time;
· Demonstrated experience and skills in gender awareness and cultural sensitivity;
· Excellent computer skills – including using Microsoft Word and Excel and email;
· Preferred candidate is a Liberian national and has experience working in Liberia;
· Fluency in English.
The following qualifications are a plus, but are not required:
· Experience with survey design (qualitative and quantitative)
· Experience with data analysis (qualitative and quantitative)
· Experience with behavior change campaigns in the social or environmental sector
