The Campbell Centre for the Study of Animal Welfare and the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph are pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 5th International Workshop on the Assessment of Animal Welfare at Farm and Group Level (WAFL), from August 8-11th, 2011. This conference is of great interest to scientists and others working in animal behaviour, health and welfare, and in particular those concerned with practical assessment and auditing of the welfare of farm livestock, laboratory animals and other animals housed and managed in groups.

Topics
General topics will include:
- Choosing the right measures, choosing the good measures ? lessons learned from new and existing welfare assessment schemes
- Farm animal welfare assessment and sustainability - connecting social and environmental aspects of measuring welfare
- Our experience beyond the farm ? animal welfare assessment for zoos, laboratories and animal shelters
- Working with end-users of animal welfare schemes
- Welfare assessment during transport, euthanasia, slaughter
- New and emerging methods for animal welfare assessment

Guelph is situated in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, approximately 90 km (58 miles) from Toronto?s Pearson International Airport. For those of you traveling from afar to the 45th International Congress of The International Society for Applied Ethology (July 31 ?
