At the Center for proper housing of poultry and rabbits (Swiss Federal Veterinary Office) near Bern, Switzerland, there are two
PhD positions (80 – 100%) available in poultry welfare and behavior.
One project deals with keel bone deformities in laying hens in aviaries, the other project deals with nest recognition in laying hens.
You completed your MS degree or an equivalent academic degree in biology, agronomy, or veterinary medicine. You are familiar with methods used in behavioral biology and you are interested in animal husbandry and welfare. You are able to publish in English.
Duration: 3 years starting on July 1, 2011 or later. Salary according to guidelines of the Swiss National Fund.
