Position Description:
Work directly under the President/Director and serve in this position in his/her absence.
Involvement in fundraising, administration, animal care and board development.
Generate goals and strategies to achieve goals in line with Board of Directors requirements.
Management of the annual fund, including writing and designing annual appeals, newsletters, annual report and other communications.
Management of the donor database and gift acknowledgement system in Raiser’s Edge.
Assist with local fundraising events.
Assist with public, donor and media relations.
Assist with education programs.
Target, write and submit proposals to foundations and corporations as assigned.
Participate in chimpanzee colony management decisions and meetings.
Assist with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Create data management strategies and suggest improvements in efficiency and productivity.
Develop and implement policies and procedures.
Oversee budgets and assist with annual budgeting process.
Gauge progress toward goals with monthly and annual reporting.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit administration or animal-oriented field required. Advanced degree preferred. Nine years experience managing development, administrative or animal programs and three years experience supervising staff and/or volunteers required. A combination of nine years Advanced Degree and relevant experience may be substituted for the education and experience requirements. Excellent writing and communications skills. Excellent computer skills including database oversight. Experience working in a team atmosphere. Nonhuman primate experience highly desirable. Experience at a non-profit or animal welfare organization preferred.
Salary/funding:
Range of $62,000 to $65,000.
Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Relocation allowance available.
