The Division of Animal Welfare and Ethology, Department of Clinical Veterinary Sciences, University of Giessen is looking to fill a postdoctoral position starting April 2011 (or as soon as possible), under the direction of Prof. Dr. Hanno Würbel.
The successful candidate is expected to develop his/her own research program, to participate in the teaching of Animal Welfare and Ethology for undergraduate students of Veterinary Medicine, and to supervise PhD student projects.
The successful candidate must have a degree in biological (Biology/Zoology) or medical sciences (Veterinary Medicine, Medicine) and a PhD (or equivalent) in animal behaviour or laboratory animal science. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and have a good publication record. Expertise in applied ethology, laboratory animal science, experimental design and statistics are a plus.
This position is offered initially for two years with the possibility to extend the position depending on the performance of the candidate. Salary according to E13 TV-H (Tarifvertrag Hessen). Starting salary depends on age, family status and work experience (starting at around EUR 37.000).
