Behavioral Management Research Post-doctoral Fellow

Position Description:
The post-doctoral fellow will conduct behavioral research on an NIH-funded project to improve the care and management of captive sooty mangabeys used in biomedical research. Work to be conducted at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Field Station location in Lawrenceville, Georgia, under the direction of Dr. Mollie Bloomsmith. The post-doctoral fellow will collect behavioral data; manage, summarize and analyze data; and assist in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts. The post-doctoral fellow will coordinate study related activities such as enrichment, animal training, and socialization of subjects, as related to study goals. This individual must be able to work cooperatively with others in behavioral management, animal care, veterinary medicine, colony management and research units to coordinate the research projects. The post-doctoral fellow will supervise an Animal Behavioral Management Specialist, also funded by the same grant. The post-doctoral fellow will perform related responsibilities as required. This is an indoor and outdoor work environment, with exposure to potentially dangerous animals. The post-doctoral fellow may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.

Qualifications/Experience:
Education and experience required: Ph.D. in psychology, anthropology, zoology or related field. Experience in behavioral observation of nonhuman primates and statistical analysis of behavioral data.

Skills preferred: Experience with literature searches, data entry, summarizing and analyzing data, statistical methods, and scientific writing. Publication record preferred. Experience with the Observer software preferred.

Salary/funding:
NIH postdoctoral funding rates; starting salary $37,740 annually; benefits package options available.
