Kansas State University
Department of Animal Sciences and Industry
Manhattan, KS USA

A research-based M.S. position is available in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry at Kansas State University beginning June 2011. The primary focus of this research position is to explore the impact that routine moderate exercise has on feedlot cattle well-being, health, productivity and meat quality. Weekly exercise will be provided to pens of feedlot cattle at varying times throughout the finishing period. A multitude of health, stress and performance parameters will be collected. Additional projects will focus on exercise in swine. These projects will be designed to gain a better understanding of physiological changes that occur during exercise; information that will be applied to the handling of animals during the marketing process.
