Position Description:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced researcher to play a lead role in conducting the day-to-day running of a BBSRC/NC3Rs funded research project ‘Attention Bias: a novel method to assess psychological wellbeing in group-housed primates’ starting October 2013 for 10 months. This is a collaborative project between Liverpool John Moores University, The MRC Centre for Macaques and the University of Roehampton. Core duties include working independently to train captive rhesus macaques to participate in non-invasive cognitive experiments, recording behaviour, collecting physiological samples, and analysing and reporting data to the research team. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be based mainly at the MRC Centre for Macaques, Wiltshire, UK.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in an appropriate area and will have research expertise in conducting cognitive or behavioural research with captive animals, or running cognitive experiments with humans. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and highly collaborative researcher with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently is essential.

Salary/funding:
Grade 6 - £24,765 - £29,541
