Lead supervisor: Dr Isabella Capellini (I.CapelliniATqub.ac.uk)

Sleep is essential to health in all mammals, however we know nearly nothing about wild animals accommodate time for sleep over the 24 hours cycle. Using state of the art biologgers on wild red deer under risk of predation by wolf, this project investigate a long-standing question: how do animals alter their sleep time and pattern when under greater risk of predation? For full project description please see here.

Lead supervisor: Dr Domhnall Jennings (D.JenningsATqub.ac.uk)

Contests and fights are widespread in animals since individuals need to secure resources for their own survival and reproductive success. In social species, life fallow deer, some individuals observe ongoing fights and may decide to intervene, disrupting those fights. This project will investigate how individuals' social networks influence their decision to intervene or not. For full project description please see here.

Deadline for applications: ***17th of January 2024*** .
