Post-Doctoral Fellow: Farm Animal Care and Well-being

Available Starting Date August 2014 
The Department of Animal Science, Iowa State University is looking to fill a postdoctoral fellow position to address farm animal care and well-being within the State of Iowa. This position is expected to begin, August 2014, under the direction of Dr. Anna Johnson. This position is offered initially for one year with the possibility to extend the position depending on the performance of the candidate. 

The successful candidate is expected to lead several applied on-farm research and state level extension projects involving swine, cattle and poultry. The candidate will be expected to participate in writing grants and publications, work closely with stakeholders, maintain a web page, and write educational materials for producers. 

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Animal Science, or similar degree, with a focus in farm animal behavior and well-being. Qualities sought include enthusiasm and pro-active attitude, demonstrated problem solving skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to work competently on their own and in a team. Previous experience working with producers, grant writing and having a successful publication record is preferred.
