Animal Science Program Manager – Humane Farm Animal Care

Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) is seeking a full time Animal Science Program Manager to help lead HFAC at a time of great programmatic success and growth.  We are a non-profit standard setting, certification and labeling program for the humane treatment of farm animals in food production.

The Animal Science Program Manager (ASPM) position requires a PhD or Masters in animal science.  The ASP will be directing and coordinating all of the organization’s activities in regard to the animal care standards, assessments, meetings, inspector recruitment, training and evaluations.   The ASPM requires the ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with demanding job responsibilities.  This position will have the  opportunity to oversee new programs and other areas critical to the success of the Certified Humane® program as the organization continues to grow.  

Humane Farm Animal Care offices are located in Herndon, Virginia, 10 minutes from Dulles International Airport, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Job Summary:  
The person seeking this position needs to be highly self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while managing one’s own hours. 
Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback and make changes to align with and contribute to HFAC’S values and culture. 
Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and work with many other staff, interns and volunteers. Preparing the annual budget for this department/managing the expenditures within that department. 

The candidate for this position will be participation in Routine Communication with the Executive Director in organization-wide management, planning, coordination, problem solving, engagement and management.

Compensation 
This is a full-time (40 hours/week average)
Salary is $50,000 per year. 
HFAC offers Three weeks of paid vacation, eight paid days of flexible holidays, and a Cafeteria Plan, but does not offer paid health insurance. 
It offers a $300/month reimbursement toward whatever health insurance you currently have.
