Independent Junior Group Leader Position Collective Behaviour

In close collaboration with:
The Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour (CASCB) is searching for applications from exceptional young scientists, who are highly accomplished and will establish their first research group or be within the first years of independence.
The CASCB is a leading centre for collective behaviour research worldwide. It offers unique opportunities to study how information and physiological states are transmitted among individuals and impact group organization in collectives. The CASCB is located at the University of Konstanz and part of the Excellence Strategy of federal and state governments to strengthen innovative research in Germany. As a collaboration between the University of Konstanz and the co-located Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior, the CASCB offers a dynamic, cross-disciplinary research environment drawing from experts in biology and human behavioural sciences, behavioural economics, physics, and computer science; the successful candidate will be expected to establish strong interdisciplinary ties across them.
The Role
We aim to recruit an independent Junior Group Leader applying cutting-edge 3D tracking technology to study cognition, social learning, individual and collective sensing / decision-making related to collective behaviour. The candidate will have access to a 1,800m3 newly-built, fully automatic 3D tracking lab with automatic call localization technology, allowing the study of multimodal (visual and acoustic) communication. Other planned developments include the implementation of augmented-reality in conjunction with the 3D tracking technology. Additional state-of-the art research infrastructure is available at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Konstanz/Radolfzell (see https://www.ab.mpg.de) for indoor 3D tracking of birds (see https://www.exc.uni-konstanz.de/collective-behaviour/research/facilities/imaging-barn/)
The Offer
The Junior Group Leader position comes with a up to 5-year contract and structural funding to cover the salary and consumables for one PhD position and access to technical staff. We offer an equipped laboratory with access to state-of-the-art core facilities (https://www.vcc.uni-konstanz.de/en/research-priorities/).
