Un(e) chargé(e) de mission « Stratégie pour la biodiversité » pour le SPN (CDD)

Le Service du Patrimoine Naturel (SPN) recrute un(e) chargé(e) de mission « Stratégie pour la biodiversité » pour un contrat d’1 an basé dans l’Essonne.

Le Service du Patrimoine Naturel (SPN) développe la mission d’expertise confiée au Muséum National d’Histoire Naturel pour la connaissance et la conservation de la nature. Il coordonne ainsi les inventaires scientifiques sur la biodiversité en fournissant des référentiels taxonomiques et méthodologiques pour les inventaires et le suivi. Il collabore avec les organismes institutionnels et les associations.

Contexte :

Par convention le MNHN s’est engagé à apporter son appui à la société Eurovia, filiale du groupe Vinci, qui multiplie les actions en matière de développement durable. En adhérant à la Stratégie Nationale pour la Biodiversité, Eurovia souhaite intégrer davantage dans sa stratégie les problématiques environnementales et notamment la préservation de la Biodiversité. Dans ce cadre, le MNHN s’est vu confier la mise en oeuvre de travaux permettant de caractériser la biodiversité inhérente aux sites Eurovia ainsi que les enjeux associés, dans un objectif de suivi de l’efficacité des mesures de gestions mises en oeuvre. Ils contribueront également à la définition et à la structuration de son projet SNB.

Missions :

Au sein du pôle Espaces du SPN, le titulaire du poste assurera le pilotage et la mise en oeuvre de l’étude en relation avec un comité de pilotage (Eurovia, SPN-MNHN) qui validera l’avancée du projet. Le premier volet de cette convention porte sur l’accompagnement, le conseil et l’expertise du SPN pour l’élaboration, la mise en oeuvre et le suivi du projet biodiversité d’EUROVIA. Le chargé de mission devra notamment réaliser :

- L’accompagnement du plan d’action général SNB,
- L’état des lieux et l’expertise de sites Eurovia en lien avec les modalités de gestion et de réaménagement mises en oeuvre,
- Définir des indicateurs « biodiversité » pour les différents métiers,
- Les actions de sensibilisation et formation des salariés d’Eurovia,
- Des expertises et conseils ponctuels sur les sites.

Un deuxième volet relatif à la mise en oeuvre, sur un ou plusieurs sites d’Eurovia, de projets scientifiques est destiné à faire progresser la connaissance sur plusieurs thématiques. Le (la) chargé(e) de mission devra notamment :

- Assurer la bancarisation et la valorisation des données biodiversité d’Eurovia dans l’INPN,
- Evaluer et cartographier la biodiversité par la réalisation d’études faune, flore et habitats sur des sites expérimentaux de références et des sites témoins,
- Caractériser l’efficacité des ouvrages et aménagements écologiques sur les sites d’Eurovia,
- Réaliser une synthèse et des recommandations sur la Séquence Evitement, Réduction, Compensation.

Ces études feront l’objet de rapports intermédiaires annuels et d’un rapport final.

Profil recherché :

Conditions administratives requises :
Être titulaire au minimum d’un diplôme de niveau bac+5 dans le domaine de l’environnement et d’une expérience de trois ans dans le domaine des méthodologies d’inventaires faune, flore, habitats et de l’évaluation de la biodiversité.

Qualifications requises :
- Expérience dans le domaine de l’élaboration et de la mise en oeuvre de protocoles de suivis faune, flore, habitats ;
- Bonne maîtrise des indicateurs de biodiversités ;
- Très bonnes connaissances naturalistes, avec au moins un domaine d’approfondissement ;
- Esprit de synthèse pour la restitution des résultats et leur diffusion, qualités rédactionnelles ; rigueur scientifique. ;
- Maîtrise des outils informatiques : Office, Arcgis et connaissances opérationnelles en analyse de données ;
- Capacités d’animation de réunions avec les partenaires du projet, autonomie ;
- Capacité à organiser son travail et à s’inscrire dans une logique d’équipe ;
- Bonne connaissance de la logique « données » (bancarisation, valorisation, etc.) ;

Type de contrat : Contrat de droit public à durée déterminée.
Durée : 12 mois
Rémunération : en fonction de l’expérience du candidat.

Position Description:
We seek to recruit a highly motivated PhD student for a study in primate cognition as a part of an EU-funded project on aging. The study aims at assessing the cognitive abilities of mouse lemurs, world´s smallest primates. Animals will be tested using different paradigms to evaluate aging effects on their learning and memory abilities. The institute owns a self-sustaining breeding colony. The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor Elke Zimmermann and Dr. Marine Joly.


Qualifications/Experience:
Required: Masters degree (or equivalent) in biology or related fields; research experience in animal behaviour; strong interest in animal cognition; good interpersonal and organisatory skills; excellent knowledge of English. Beneficial: knowledge of primate cognition literature; research experience with primates; knowledge of C++ programming language; basic knowledge of German.


Salary/funding:
The position is fully funded for 2 years by the EU.


Term of Appointment:
Initial appointment will be for 1 year, to be extended by a further 1 year following satisfactory evaluation. The successful candidate will take responsibility to collect project data and ensure the delivery of scientific goals. She/he will also be required to assist with undergraduate teaching at the Institute of Zoology, University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.

The core R&D activity of the Bio-Imaging Lab (http://webh01.ua.ac.be/biomag) is experimental high-resolution neuroMRI focusing on neurodegeneration, neuroregeneration, neuronal plasticity and brain activity related with auditory memory and auditory learning. The research is performed on rat and mouse models for different human neuropathologies and on songbirds as a model for neuronal plasticity, auditory processing and learning for which the Bio-Imaging Lab became renowned.

The Bio-Imaging team moved last year to an exquisite new facility harboring a separate songbird animalarium (housing for 3 different bird species in two different light/dark cycles each and an extra room with sound boxes) and 3 high field small animal MRI systems including two 7Tesla and one of 9.4Tesla system from Bruker. Besides that, the lab also has in-vivo Bioluminescence - Fluorescence (BLI) camera from Biospace (France). Our group has access to micro PET/SPECT/CT and advanced light and electron microscopy and image processing through other UA research teams with whom we are clustered into a larger imaging network.

Profile and requirements:

• You have excellent knowledge on at least one of the following topics: neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, neuroMRI, songbird brain and hormones, songbird genetics, songbird molecular work......

• You have experience with working with small animals (rats, mice, songbirds is a bonus)

• You have an excellent scientific CV, have good writing skills for both publishing and project writing.

• You are clearly a good team player, you are a creative and critical scientist. You have experience in coaching PhD students who will be under your supervision.

We offer:

A full-time position as a postdoctoral fellow in the framework of a new 5 year IAP project entitled PLASTOSCINE: Hormones and neuroplasticity: image (MRI) guided discoveries of molecular mechanisms in neuroplasticity. The contract is for one year, will start October 1st 2012 and will be extended up to 5 years upon good performance.

Volunteer research assistant: Socio-ecology of black howler monkeys (Alouatta pigra) in Palenque, Mexico.

Position Description:
We are looking for volunteers to assist in projects studying the social system and ecology of black howler monkeys (Alouatta pigra) at Palenque National Park, Mexico. The project investigates the social and genetic factors mediating individual participation in naturally occurring howling bouts and group defense in black howler monkeys (by Dr. S. Van Belle). Assistants will work in a team together with Dr. Van Belle while observing study groups. Observations days runs start at sunrise to sunset during which multiple types of data such as activity and proximity scan samples are collected, in addition to GPS recording of ranging patterns. Resting days will be scheduled regularly as part of the field work.


Qualifications/Experience:
The qualifications we are looking for in a research assistant are:
-Be physically fit, and capable of undertaking fieldwork in hot/humid conditions.
-Be capable of team work and not have issues with authority figures.
-Have a background in biology/anthropology/zoology/psychology or a related field.
-Be interested in primate behavior, ecology, and conservation.
-Be hardworking, disciplined in following field procedures and be reliable.
-Some knowledge of animal behavior and data collection preferred but not required.
-Enjoy being outdoors and experiencing the tropical rainforest.
-Enjoy being in the culture of southeast Mexico


Salary/funding:
No salary will be provided.


Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Assistants will be responsible for airfare/transportation to and from Palenque and for food costs. Lodging will be provided by the field project in a comfortable fully equipped house (electricity, hot water, high speed internet, bunk beds, two bathrooms with showers, a large living room kitchen area) about 2 km from Palenque National Park. The town of Palenque is only 2 km away where banking, telephone services, hospitals, supermarkets, drugstores and others are available.
