PhD Studentship investigating hemispheric differences in attention processes (cognitive psychology and neuropsychology). Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD Studenship in Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology (Laboratoire de Psychologie et Neurosciences Cognitives, Université Paris Descartes). The position is part of ITN:LAN, an EU Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN-LAN - 214570) and is starting September 2008.
Under the terms of the grant, applicants must be nationals of a Member State or Associated State of the European Community or residing in the Community for the last five years. Specialist research training will be offered and researchers may expect to spend time with research teams in other countries (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Israel) in the laboratories that are part of the ITN-LAN. Also, applicants must not be nationals in the state in which the research team is located, here France. Applicants must have less than five years research activity since gaining a university degree.
The long-term scientific objectives of the ITN-LAN are: (1) to validate and standardize a behavioural battery for assessing the attentional networks of the two cerebral hemispheres and their interaction, (2) to study its neuropsychological correlates using performance of brain-damaged and/or psychiatric patients (e.g. schizophrenia).
Required Education Level. Degree: Psychologist. Degree field: Neuropsychology and Cognitive Psychology. Language: French/English (good level). Candidates should be familiar with statistical software packages used in analysis and software like E-Prime. Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
