Postdoctoral Fellowship

Human-animal interactions, animal welfare and product quality

One of the fellowships deals with “Human-animal interactions, animal welfare and product quality” (PD0909, Principal investigator Susanne Waiblinger).

For this topic we are searching for a candidate highly motivated to develop a research program on the sequential effects of human-animal interactions on farm animal welfare and product quality in cattle and / or poultry (for more details to this specific fellowship see webpage http://www.vetmeduni.ac.at/en/research/postdoc/pd0909/). Eligible applicants are expected to have a background and research experience in applied ethology related to farm animal welfare, preferably in the field of human-animal relationships. Additional background in animal product studies and physiology is very welcome. Good knowledge of and experience in statistics are essential. Practical work will be done on the university research farm and on commercial farms within driving distance from the main campus requiring mobility.

Starting 2011 the university will award each fellowship a 4 year funding. Salary is € 45.500,- (before tax) and research expense is € 10.000,- per year. No teaching or administrative duties are associated with these appointments, however candidates are expected to apply for additional research funding.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Life Sciences or a Dr.med.vet. degree.
