We are seeking applicants for a PhD position at the Instituto de
Neuroetologia of the Universidad Veracruzana (Mexico) to study vocal
behavioral patterns of multiple species and their relationship with
ecological and anthropogenic factors in the Selva Maya
of Mexico under the supervision of Dr. Filippo Aureli and Dr. Ronald A.
Fernández-Gómez. The successful candidate will receive a four-year
fellowship through a grant from the Mexican Secretariat of Science,
Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI).
Potential candidates should have a master's degree in a related field
and a strong background in statistics and bioacoustics and ecoacoustics,
preferably with experience using autonomous recording units, processing
large amounts of acoustic data, and programming
in R and Python. The PhD thesis can be written in Spanish or English,
but applicants should know sufficient Spanish to navigate the
application process, including an entry exam.
