Two post-doctoral positions are now open in
the “Neural bases of spatial cognition and action team”,
directed by Dr Suliann Ben Hamed, at the Institut des Sciences
Cognitives Marc Jeannerod, Neuroscience department, CNRS UMR
5229, in Lyon, France (http://benhamedteam.cnc.isc.cnrs.fr).
Candidates for a PhD with outstanding
track records can also be considered.
Project: the
project aims at studying the cortical reorganization and
plasticity principles associated with real-time
neurofeedback-based cognitive brain-machine interfaces to
enhance the attentional function in the healthy brain and to
restore it in the lesioned brain. This project builds on recent
work produced by the host team and opens important applicative
as well as fundamental research perspectives. The PI will
directly train the candidate, support research success, and
provide active mentorship for career development.
Profile: the
candidate should have hands on experience in one or several of
the following experimental skills: 1) multi-electrode single
cell recordings and analyses in the awake behaving non-human
primate (NPH), 2) fMRI data collection and analyses in the awake
behaving NPH, 3) pharmacological intracortical injection
experiments in the awake behaving NPH, 4) intracortical
microstimulations in the awake behaving NPH. Proficiency in
Matlab is required. A background in mathematics or in
computational neurosciences are important added values.
Motivated doctoral students with outstanding university record
and prior experience in integrative neurosciences in NPH can
also apply. Excellent written and verbal communication, a
focused attitude, and enthusiasm to work intently in a
multi-disciplinary team are essential. Applications with no
prior experience in NPH or integrative neurosciences are
discouraged.
The research
environment: the ISCMJ is an extremely rich research
environment. Its Neuroscience department hosts 7 productive,
dynamic research teams, with a strong emphasis on system and
cognitive neurosciences. These different teams have strong
collaborations between themselves, with the other neuroscience
research institutes of Lyon (4 including the ISCMJ), as well as
nationally and internationally.
Living in Lyon: Lyon
is an extremely active city with rich social and cultural events
due to the high density of outstanding universities and
engineering schools. It is at less than 2 hours drives from the
Alpes’ skiing stations, at 3 hours drive from the Mediterranean
sea and 2 hours from Paris by Train.
Funding: two
three to four year post-doctoral positions from the European
Research Council ERC program are available, starting on the 1st
of October 2017.
Applications, including a CV, a detailed
statement of skills and research interest, a list of
publications, and 2-3 references, should be sent to: Suliann Ben
Hamed, CNRS Research Director, team leader, email: benhamed@isc.cnrs.fr,
