Position for a postdoctoral researcher at the ULB (cognitive development)

Project description. Adélaïde de Heering from the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is hiring a postdoctoral fellow for 1.5 year (full-time contract) to join her lab, lulLABy, and work on a research project recently funded by an ARC consolidator grant. The aim of this project is to investigate infants’ active exploration mechanisms and the development of curiosity. 

Job description. The recruited candidate will be recruiting, testing, interpreting, and writing about infants’ data collected from behavioural and electrophysiological (EEG) settings. (S)he will work under the close supervision of Adélaïde de Heering (PI of this project) and collaborate with Claire Kabdebon (Université de Marseille, France). The net salary is in line with the Belgian legislation (approximately 2000 euros/month) and includes social and medical benefits. The enrolled candidate will be encouraged to apply to external fundings (e.g., FNRS) during their mandate to extent their fellowship. 

 

Host laboratory. The research program will take place at the Center for Research in Cognition and Neurosciences (CRCN), which unites 5 well-connected and internationally oriented research units investigating the human brain from different perspectives. The CRCN houses a fully functional BabyLab equipped with behavioural and electrophysiological facilities. 

 

Candidate. Eligible applicants hold, or will soon hold, a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Sciences, or any related discipline for less than 3 years at the day of hiring. They respond to the mobility conditions, i.e., having lived and worked outside of Belgium for more than 12 of the 36 months immediately preceding the start of the contract, and having defended their PhD thesis since no more than 8 years. They show an excellent academic track and interest to supervise master students during their internship and master thesis. Previous experience in infant testing (0- 3 years) using behavioral and/or physiological measures, and at programming (e.g., Python, Matlab), is particularly appreciated. Candidates speak English (scientific communication) and French (communication with French-speaking parents, daycares, etc.).
