As a Federal Research Institute and independent higher Federal Authority under the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture, the work of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) focusses on the health, nutrition, housing, genetic diversity, and welfare of farm animals.
At the Institute for Animal Welfare and Husbandry in Celle, Germany, a 3-year position (50 %) is available for a Research Assistant (PhD-student)
The employment will be based on the Federal Civil Service Act (TVöD) and the salary will refer to class E 13 (West).
Within the FLI-research project ”Effects of selection for high laying performance on adaptation capacity in the domestic fowl” the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Planning, conduction and analysis of experiments on behavioural responses towards environmental challenges
Planning, conduction and analysis of behavioural experiments on cognition and motivation
Coordination of the experiments with those of other collaborating institutes of FLI
Presentation of the results at international conferences and publishing in international peer reviewed journals
Master (of Sciences) or equivalent in Biology, Agricultural sciences or Veterinary medicine
Interest in learning behaviour
Readiness to conduct behavioural experiments with laying hens
Interest to participate in an interdisciplinary research project
Driver licence (class B)
