(GAP) is a non
-profit charitable organization founded in 2008. GAP brings together
farmers, scientists, ranchers, retailers and animal advocates
– a diverse group with the common goal
of
improving the welfare of animals in agriculture. The 5
-Step
®
Animal Welfare Program recognizes producers for
their welfare practices, facilitates continuous improvement
, and better informs consumers about the
production systems they choose to support. As of January 1, 2016, 2900 farms and ranches are certified to
GAPs standards that range from Step 1 to Step 5+, impacting over 290 million animals annually.

About the Position:
Reporting to the
Manager
of
Farm Animal Welfare
, the core responsibilities of this position will include:

Review
ing
certification documentation and
related materials
-
Managing
tracking metrics
-
Tracking
certification benchmarking
-
Handling day
-to-day certification questions and issues
-
Enhancing
certification process and related materials
-
Reviewing
and monitoring
the
Certifier Accreditation Program
-
Contributing
to/edit reports, manuals, standards revis
ions
and other specialized publications
-
Perform other duties as required
-
Ability to travel up to 25%
Qualifications:
-
Master’s
degree
in animal production / animal science /
welfare science
-
Experience
with alternative livestock production systems and/or farm animal agriculture and/or farm
animal welfare
-
Proven t
echnical expertise
with
alternative
livestock production systems,
farm animal agriculture and
farm animal welfare
-
Strong written and verbal co
mmunication skills
-
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders
-
Ability to self
-manage

Detail oriented with e
xcellent analytical and organizational skills

Experience with database development and management is desirabl
e

Strong computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
