Akatia, association de conservation basée en Côte d’Ivoire, recherche un·e Directeur·rice pour piloter ses projets et renforcer son impact sur le terrain. Ce poste à haute responsabilité est une opportunité unique de diriger des actions concrètes de préservation de la faune sauvage, notamment des chimpanzés, tout en soutenant les communautés locales.
Nous opérons deux camps de base et deux sanctuaires pour animaux saisis (chimpanzés dans la forêt de la Comoé et autres primates à Yapo-Abbé), en partenariat avec la SODEFOR, la BSSI et le Ministère des Eaux et Forêts.
Vos
missions
Leadership stratégique : Encadrer, motiver et fédérer les équipes autour des objectifs d’Akatia.
Gestion opérationnelle : Superviser les finances, l’administration, la logistique et les infrastructures.
Partenariats & représentation : Renforcer les relations avec les autorités, bailleurs et partenaires, en Côte d’Ivoire et à l’international.
Reporting : Produire des rapports narratifs et financiers à destination des partenaires.
Suivi des activités : Encadrer les responsables de projet, assurer la cohérence et l’efficacité des actions sur le terrain.

Profil
recherché
Minimum 10 ans d’expérience en gestion de projets ou d’ONG, dont une partie en Afrique est un atout.
Compétences solides en management, administration, finances, et suivi d’équipe.
Très bonne maîtrise du français et bonne maîtrise de l’anglais.
Capacité à travailler en autonomie et en milieu isolé.
Bonne connaissance des enjeux de conservation, des institutions ivoiriennes et de la culture locale.

Akatia, an NGO based in Côte d’Ivoire and dedicated to integrated conservation projects, is seeking a new Director. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the protection of chimpanzees, primates, and wildlife, while leading passionate teams and advancing community-based conservation and awareness projects.
Akatia operates two field camps and manages two sanctuaries for animals confiscated by the authorities: one dedicated to chimpanzees in the Comoé 1 Forest, and another for primates (and other mammals) in the Yapo-Abbé Forest. The organization works in close collaboration with SODEFOR and BSSI, under the supervision of the Ministry of Water and Forests.
Key
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Inspire and guide dedicated teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment centered on sustainable conservation.
Administration & Finance: Ensure transparent financial management and smooth administration in close collaboration with staff.
Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international authorities, donors, and institutional partners to support integrated conservation activities.
Team Management: Oversee managers and their activities, conduct regular evaluations, and maintain a positive work environment.
Reporting: Produce narrative and financial reports for donors and institutional partners.
Logistics & Infrastructure: Manage infrastructure projects, equipment maintenance, and essential field operations (vehicles, generators, etc.).

Candidate
Profile
We are seeking a motivated leader with a strong background in conservation management. The ideal candidate will have:
A degree and/or extensive experience in management, project administration, or financial oversight.
At least 10 years of team management experience within NGOs, conservation, or environmental protection projects (experience in Africa is a strong asset).
Solid knowledge of best practices in biodiversity protection (flora and fauna).
Proven skills in financial and administrative management, including donor reporting.
Strong planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with external partners.
A team-oriented mindset with the ability to motivate and support staff.
Proficiency in standard IT tools (Word, Excel); accounting software knowledge (e.g. QuickBooks) is an advantage.
Fluency in French and strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
Familiarity with Ivorian institutions and African cultural contexts is an asset.
Position
Details
Location: Based in Agboville, Côte d’Ivoire, with frequent travel to project sites and Abidjan.
Contract: Local contract, one-year renewable, with a three-month probation period.
Compensation: Competitive monthly package including salary (based on profile and experience) and in-kind benefits such as 4 weeks of annual leave, one annual round-trip flight, and repatriation insurance coverage.
