Responsibilities:
- Comply with the appropriate safety and study requirements as described in the Standard
- Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and governmental
- regulations
- Comply with the appropriate safety and health practices including personal protective
- equipment and barrier requirements, as applicable
- Recognize animal behavior and implement stimulation processes to eliminate or reduce
- stressors
- Perform animal husbandry tasks (e.g. prepare rooms for study)
- Weighing of animals
- Assist with animal shipment activities
- Maintain regulated equipment (e.g. call for repair when needed, monitor vendor visits)
- Perform facility cleaning tasks (e.g. unclogging drains)
- Perform minor cage repairs
- Assist with scientific procedures (e.g. cage procedures)
- Assist with veterinary procedures (e.g. weights)
- Attend training programs to become more knowledgeable of and develop expertise in
- laboratory animal science.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)
- 2-3 years of animal experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
- AALAS certification preferred.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) in a professional manner
- Math Skills: Basic to intermediate math skills
- Be able to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs
