Position Description:
We are looking for a field assistant to support us with an ERC-funded research project on the vocal abilities of white-handed gibbons in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand.
The main responsibilities of the successful applicant are to support a doctoral student, Julie Andrieu, with carrying out behavioural observations and playback experiments on different habituated groups.
The project is supervised by Klaus Zuberbuhler.
Qualifications/Experience:
The successful candidate will have a background in animal behaviour and some training in behavioural sampling methods. He or she must be physically fit, as the demands of carrying out fieldwork in a tropical environment are considerable. A valid international driving license and good command of English are essential.
Salary/funding:
No salary is provided but the successful candidate can claim up to 1,000 Euros for subsistence costs, following satisfactory performance.
Support provided for internship/volunteer positions (travel, meals, lodging):
Return flight to Bangkok, following satisfactory performance.
Term of Appointment:
The position is for 6-8 months, starting in early January 2013.
