The Opportunity
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available for a neuroscientist or neurophysiologist interested in investigating the neural basis of cognitive flexibility and executive control in animal models. This position is part of the newly established Centre of Excellence for Integrative Brain Function, a 7 year programme funded by the Australian Research Council.
You will join the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department of Physiology. The focus of the research is to investigate the neural substrate and mechanisms underlying cognitive flexibility using a combination of single-cell recording and behavioural studies.
As the successful candidate, you will have a demonstrable interest and track record in establishing animal models, behavioural studies and in vivo single-cell recording, as evidenced by a strong publication track record. Experience with studies on non-human primates is an important advantage. Good programming skills (C and MATLAB) and experience with non-human primates are all an advantage.
As the successful applicant, you will be expected to work independently and to cooperate with other members of the research group at Monash and abroad. You will have a PhD in neurophysiology, neuroscience, experimental psychology, or a closely related discipline.
