Job Title: ANIMAL TRAINING SPECIALIST - RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Job Description:
Duties for this position include training nonhuman primates to cooperate with colony management, husbandry, and/or research procedures using positive reinforcement training (PRT) techniques, assessing effectiveness of the training procedures, instructing others (e.g., caretakers, technicians) in PRT techniques, and maintaining records.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:   Required: Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, psychology, anthropology, or related field.  Demonstrated experience training animals using positive reinforcement techniques; at least one year experience working with animals on a professional level; good organizational skills; good oral and written communications skills, and the ability to work independently.
Preferred: Coursework in primatology, work experience with nonhuman primates, training experience with exotic species, public speaking experience.

This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position.  Texas Biomed business hours are Monday through Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
