Carnegie Mellon -- one postdoctoral project

The Cantlon Lab at Carnegie Mellon University is hiring a postdoctoral researcher for comparative research with non-human primates and humans – specifically, for a new project on logical reasoning development and evolution using behavioral methods. Our laboratory is an interdisciplinary environment – we work on comparative studies across species, age, and culture using multiple cognitive science techniques. Our broader goal is to understand how complex cognition emerges in humans, which cognitive and neural processes are universal across people, and what makes human cognition unique compared to other species.

The postdoctoral researcher will lead a new comparative primate study by designing and programming experiments, working with primates, conducting data analysis, and writing manuscripts. The ideal candidate will have experience working with primates in a zoo, cognitive science, or neuroscience context, experience with cognitive data collection and analysis, and experience coding in Matlab, Python, R, or related platforms.

Salary and benefits are set at the NIH levels for postdoctoral associates, based on experience.

A second position, Research Assistant, is available for a recent undergraduate. This position is ideal for a recent Bachelor's degree graduate who is interested in going to graduate school in cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience, or psychology. The ideal candidate will have some experience working with animals, data collection, and analysis. Salary and benefits are set at the NIH levels for research assistants, based on experience.
