Marine mammal research opportunities

Are you looking to gain valuable research experience with marine mammals?

At the Dolfinarium Harderwijk, the Netherlands, we are now offering more opportunities for  research assistantships/internships to conduct behavioural research on marine mammals! Research projects are possible on bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises, Californian sea lions, Steller sea lions, Pacific walruses, harbour seals and grey seals. Research on different species of sharks and rays is also encouraged.

Possible research topics include animal welfare studies, human-animal relationship studies, social behaviour, physiological studies, effects of different management strategies (e.g. enrichment techniques), veterinary medicine studies, etc. You are encouraged to develop your own project, but we are also looking for candidates to conduct the necessary projects suggested by the Dolfinarium.

We are interested in university graduates as well as students who have a specialization and experience in animal behavioural research and observations. We offer unique facilities for scientists who are looking to gain valuable experience in marine mammal research. These positions are unpaid, so we are looking for candidates who are able to cover their own costs for living and transportation. Graduates are encouraged to apply for their own funding. Previous research interns usually applied for an ERASMUS grant.

If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,
